Dealing with kids is different.
Once I was kissing someone at the corner of 7th and A
and suddenly this swarm of kids, boys, age 8-13,
surrounded us.

"Dykes!"
"What do
you do when
you go home?"
they yelled, as
they'd been taught.
"What do you do for
sex, hunh dykes?" "Are
you the man, or is she?"
"What else do you do besides
kiss?" Pretty innocuous. My
girlfriend just started walking
away, but you know, straight
people can kiss each other on the
corner and nobody screams things at
them. So I smiled and bent over a
little so my face was right in the
loudest one's face, and as low and sexy
as I could, looking him right in his
eyes, I said, "You're just going to have
to go home and use your imagination,
Sweetie." This didn't slow the others
down, but that kid definitely faltered.
It was enough for us to make a
decent exit. Maybe the kid will
be traumatized around issues
of sexuality -- or at least
think for a minute
about them.
