"Te Odio Mi Amor" (I Hate You My Love)
is the story of two families vying
for political control of a small
Brazilian town.
The mayor, patriarch of one family,
feuds constantly with the matriarch
of the other family. Meanwhile, his
son and her daughter carry on a
steamy romance.
Other storylines include a group
of religious fanatics who are trying
to close the local brothel, the town's
real center of political power. Their
activities threaten to expose the
mayor's relationship with one of the
prostitutes.
The characters and contradictions
of "Te Odio Mi Amor" resonate sharply
in Cuba, where there is an immense
discrepancy between the appearance
and essence of things.
