In less than an hour, Hope has changed. At the start of the meeting, she was ready to bite my head off. When I said, after the initial reaction, that I wanted to handle this maturely, she just went "PFFFF!" like I was ridiculous. But forty-five minutes thence, she's calming my fears, trying to make me feel better.
We establish that although I responded well to the situation, took responsibility, and offered to make amends, the charge is serious enough, and the rules clear enough, that a memo will have to go in my file. They agree that while I should have a say in what the memo contains, corporate ethics still require some kind of redress. I promise to think about my behavior over the weekend and to apologize at the first opportunity.
