I imagined myself as a modern version of one of the most notorious and
terrifying of all the freedom fighters to ever come out of Africa--
the Mau Mau of Kenya. The Mau Mau were servants to the English by day
and killers of the English by night. Thoughts of them raised my
spirits and throughout the evening as I walked along the food-serving
path, I pictured grisly deeds and recalled how the only thing the
English could ever understand about their servants was when the Mau
Mau took bloody revenge. I kept fantasizing about headlines in the
New York Post: "HEADLESS FORTUNES FOUND ON PARKWAY--
Today, 500 heads of Fortune 500 companies greeted morning commuters
on their way to work...." Capitalist tool wants to know why? My
response, "Now that's affirmative action for ya." The phrase rang in
my head for the rest of the night.
