I'm laughing so hard now I can't even stand up, I fall against the brick wall and slump down to where I'm sitting on my briefcase. These two cheerleader-type girls I used to know walk right by me talking about Engelbert Friggin' Humperdink, they don't even notice I'm there. "Hey," I say, "howdja like to buy the American People's Encyclopedia of Everything? It's the cyclopedia for the seventies, you know."

They pause for a second staring at me, confused. "Cah-REEEEEEPY!" one of them says to the other. They walk on. I look after them and their walking and talking kind of hypnotize me. I start to fall asleep. I sleep there all night in the alley in my light blue suit, and in the morning the sun is warm and beautiful and yellow and like an alarm clock ringing me awake. Brrrring ring ring ring ring: Donut time, man! Shee-it, I love this life!
