SESSION ONE -- 10/20/95 (TEXT):
**********************************
Hi, I'm Roxanna.
Welcome to Cyber Nails Network®.
I started doing special designs
on my nails
when I got this job as a receptionist.
I felt like I had to celebrate.
Like I deserve something...
special...
for myself.
[Phone rings] Hold on a sec!
Hi, I'm back.
Our company's name is ICon:
Capital 'I,' capital 'C,' little 'o,' little 'n.'
That stands for "Integration Consortium."
So what do we do here?
We're integrating, right?
And consortium--what does that mean?
It's like a coming together. A consortium.
Okay.
Integration consortium is things coming together.
That's all I have to remember.
[Phone rings] Hold on a sec!
Hi, I'm back.
We sell people computers to be...
connected... to the Internet...
for connectivity...
For integration.
You get it? We make people come together.
It's like a good commercial.
So, that's it for now.
Thank you very much for joining us.
Come back and check us out again real soon.
I'm Roxanna from the Cyber Nails Network®.
SESSION TWO -- 10/30/95 (TEXT):
**********************************
Hello again and welcome.
You are on the World Wide Web
with me, Roxanna of the CNN:
the Cyber Nails Network®.
Today, in our second session,
I wanna break down this whole
information superhighway thing.
You know what it's like?
It's like nails.
When you were a little kid, you went into the store,
you bought a cheap nail polish (like Brucci).
Maybe you stole it.
But you did your nails the old-fashioned way.
Like a typewriter.
But today, there's technology involved.
There are inventions being created all the time.
There's acrylic, silkwraps, fiberglass nails---
[phone rings]
Hold on a sec.
[.. We're on hold... Music....]
Let's see.
Back in the day, they had filing,
emery boards, that kinda stuff.
Nowadays they use that little thing
that rolls around
and just cuts your nails right off.
You start moving into stuff like that,
and these airbrushes I got here,
it's totally technologically advanced.
Cuz back in the day,
they didn't have airbrushing...
You just bought the cheap nail polish,
threw it on your nails,
and you were straight.
But with technology you can really go places.
As you can see from my beautiful designs,
there are so many places you can go.
Just like the web.
You got it?
SESSION THREE -- 11/10/95 (TEXT):
**********************************
Whussup whussup whussup?
You are back on the Cyber Nails Network®
and we are going smooth
right into week number three.
Taking special requests,
this one goes out to Holly,
my increasingly special one,
love Super J, the cyberspace cowboy!
Damn--I love that!
(Phone rings) Hold on
Love is something I know all about
cuz in this world when you got pain,
you need love,
simple as that,
and yo, once upon a time,
I was in the gutter.
I had no computers,
I had no Cyber Nails Network® to express myself.
And then I remembered something:
when the the going gets tough,
the tough get acrylic!
See whether you're out in cyberspace
or down here on planet Earth,
it's up to us to find the Love.
Y'know what I'm saying?
To make our own little paradise.
It doesn't matter
what you're starting with,
it matters where you're going with it.
Take my nails, right?
Everybody laughed at first.
They didn't know
I was laying the foundation
for my own worldwide network.
PAGER BEEPS:
Angry, Mean Male Voice: Hello?
R: Oh, Hello, Brian
Brian: Can you get me fine point blue felt pens
out of the supply room?
R: Oh sure, Brian, sure, anything you want!
You think I won't have him
wrapped around my little cybernails?
I done my homework.
Ohhh yeah. He is powerless
(Brian arrives)
B: Hey, did you get those blue felt pens for me?
R: Oh, here you go Brian.
B: Wow! Your nails! I never noticed them before
They're beautiful.
What's your name again?
R: Roxanna.
B: Roxanna? What're you doing this weekend?
R: Well, that depends on what you got in mind, Brian.
You see what I'm saying?
Love's easy, but like charity,
you gotta begin at home.
You gotta take pride in something.
But then, you can bust out
and be a big cheese
on the WEBS.
Check it out:
I got my little man,
I got my palm tree beach,
I got paradise right here on my fingernails.
Be like me,
and you will have some style.
You will be chillin'.
I'm Roxanna,
and you know where you at.
SESSION FOUR -- 12/01/95 (TEXT):
**********************************
All right, yo check it out:
last night I was hanging out with Zulma,
we was chilling at the bar,
and I was saying, "Yo, I'm sick of being abused,"
and she was like,
"Yeah, I'm sick of being abused, too.
We want people to buy us drinks.
Why are we sitting here buying our own drinks?"
And she was like, "Yo, Roxanna,
you're a big cheese on the Web
Why don't you just start your own Nails Revolution?
Then we could get someone to get us drinks,
and we'd be straight."
And I was like,
"Yo, that really makes a lotta sense,
because if you think about it,
all revolutions have something to do with drinks!"
The American Revolution,
there was the British guys, sitting around,
wearing red coats, drinking tea,
and the Americans was like,
"Naaah,that's stupid.
We wanna have some beer or something.
Come on, this is so corny.
We don't wanna wear red coats and white wigs.
This is really retarded."
Wearing only a red coat would be like me
wearing plain red nail polish alla time.
You know what I'm saying?
*Why?*
[Phone rings. ] Hold on a sec.
All right, yo, check it out
The French Revolution.
The people was sitting up in the castle,
and they was telling them to eat cake,
and they was telling them,
"Yo, we don't wanna eat cake.
We wanna drink champagne
We don't wanna be stupid
and wear fake moles and tights
and all that stupid stuff
like the wigs with the rats in em and stuff."
These people, they had to fight back
for what they wanted to do.
You know what I'm saying?
Then there was the Russian Revolution.
Yo, those people are crazy.
They're out there, it's freezing cold,
and they're like, "We don't wanna be
wearing no beaverpelt coats and hats and stuff.
We just wanna be chillin."
So you know what they did?
They decided to drink a lot of vodka
And once they got all heated up,
then they had the revolution,
cuz they was mad. You know what I'm saying?
And once they got mad,
they had those drinks,
and they was chillin,
cuz they were all hanging out
and having a good time in the snow.
And that's what I'm trying to say.
I just wanna have a good time,
snow or no snow.
But the only way I'm gonna have a good time
is if I get some drinks
Now we got a revolution on the Web.
A Nails Revolution.
And everybody's gonna be connected,
and all equal, so they can party like they wanna.
And like,
if you're a company out there,
and you wanna get behind the Nails Revolution,
I think you should send me some checks
so I can buy me some drinks.
Then we could get this Nail Revolution started,
you know what I'm saying?
Then I could loosen up and I could party better.
Talk to me. Give a call.
Send me a check.
Buy me a drink. Whatever!
This is Roxanna, and you know where you at.
The Cybernails Network:
Power to the People!!
SESSION FIVE -- 01/16/96 (TEXT):
**********************************
Hello, everybody.
This is Roxanna from the CyberNails Network.
What I have to tell you is very sad:
this is the last CyberNails Network.
[pause]
I'm a real human being. Okay?
I'm not some person that somebody created
at their computer terminal.
I'm real.
I'm really, really real.
This CyberNails Network is getting way out of hand.
I don't know how to deal with it no more.
[Phone rings] Hold on a sec...
It is very, very stressful to do this.
You people don't understand
how much stress I am under here.
I need you to know
that it is very, very difficult
to be so real.
I'm sure you have your problems
but you don't have my problems,
and my problems are really, really hard
because they're really, really real.
I tried my best.
But it's just getting too much to handle.
I can't take it no more.
It's just gonna have to end this way.
I'm really very sorry
cuz I've enjoyed being there for you.
[Phone rings] Hold on a sec.
Thank you very much
for your time and your patience.
I appreciate everything
that all of you have done for me.
It's been really very special.
I hope to meet all of you one day.
Somewhere on the street,
in space,
on the road,
in a car,
in a bar--
I don't care where it is.
All of you take care of yourselves.
Be good to each other
and keep typing away, enjoying the webs.
I'm okay now.
I think I can handle it.
And I hope you can handle it too.
Enjoy life.
Peace out.
God Bless.
Good luck, and all that good stuff.
Goodnight.
